Zack founded HillGenius after experiencing government affairs challenges from multiple perspectives throughout his career in Washington D.C.

Starting at a healthcare government affairs firm, he moved in-house as a research fellow at a biopharmaceutical manufacturer, where he was responsible for monitoring policy developments across multiple committees and keeping executives informed of changes that could impact million-dollar decisions. The pressure was constant: miss something important, and the company could be blindsided.

Seeking to understand the government side, Zack moved to Capitol Hill as a staff assistant on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, then became legislative clerk for the Health Subcommittee. He discovered that even congressional staff struggled with the same basic problems: finding accurate information quickly and making sense of the constant information flow.

After Capitol Hill, Zack served as a Senior Advisor at the Department of Health and Human Services, gaining executive branch perspective on how policy gets implemented. He then pivoted into data science and machine learning in 2020, working with the Department of Defense to apply AI to complex operational challenges—including automating previously labor-intensive processes.

This experience with high-stakes AI implementation showed him how technology could solve the problems he struggled with throughout his government affairs career. Now full-time on HillGenius, Zack's background spans lobbying firms, in-house corporate roles, Capitol Hill, and the executive branch—which means he understands both the problems and the solutions from every angle.
